Talk-able Art

Yes, the Grammy’s came and went as well as other award shows. I think it is hard not to really generalize these marks of distinction with one award show after the next. I would really like for the actual tastemakers for one year to the next not open yourself up to believing the opinion of a few ancients means more than the millions of people whose impression is left by them listening, purchasing, and interacting with our personal art.  After the show is over the process just begins again. What will be the new sound in 2014? Singer- Songwriter, Funk, EDM, Alternative Rock, and so forth. I’d like to see the fusion in the genres continue to spread, overlapping into the mainstream. Keep the music real and genuine and we will have a better year than the last. Also, congratulations to all the winners and nominees in 2013.

Here We Go

For the moment I'd like to say that I’m insanely offended by the audacity  Pandora had in response to being slapped down for the moment by the courts- but that's me putting it mildly..First, we know the industry itself is very fickle. Not everyone is a winner. Some artists are just that; indie and make very little, but what they sell independently. Even less are phenomenal pop acts that tour and make millions. As for the actual core of the music industry - songwriters, we are giving you something to sell in the first place (on consignment to boot as we do not get paid until sales are collected sometimes year(s) later). Without the music no one has a way to make one dollar let alone twenty.

Also, for the lucky ones to even get a commercial released single, they deserve to receive the full money making potential that this provides them! We are for the most part independent contractors peddling our wares from one artist to the next hoping to get a placement to create income for ourselves. The already statutory rated standards being followed by all other media outlets are not good enough for Pandora’s’ pariah’s bottom line. Not my problem, you need to concentrate on making your own business model work. And stop trying to feed into our already deluded income. Word.

2014 Metro-Bloggin

Starting a blog was not something that I really ever considered doing. With the way of the music industry the one thing constant is - change… I also believe in being a person of little words, just choose the right ones. That being said, publishing is not the sexiest or easiest. As a matter of fact the music industry itself isn’t directly simple; it has a lot of nuisances so it’s always Disrupted and Disruptive … That makes this an easy first blog in the beginning of the year something happened to our industry that has a very lasting impression once again being touched and changed.
Let's see how this one plays out.....
